Pre-development planning services were performed for this planned new 600-room, 23-story Westin® at the Oregon Convention Center. A headquarters hotel has been a goal of the Oregon Convention Center Urban Renewal Plan since 1989.
The planned hotel would pursue LEED® Silver Certification. Transparent on three levels to expose activity to the Convention Center and street, the hotel would include generous banquet and meeting facilities, street-level retail and a light glass canopy covering a multi-use activity plaza.
Pre-development planning services included a building program, conceptual design, development budget, schedule, and close collaboration with municipal agency METRO and the selected investment banker to structure the tax-exempt bond financing solution.
According to an economic impact study, the estimated economic benefit to the region with the addition of a headquarters hotel would be $88 to $110 million annually. The hotel would add further sustained local economic impact by creating 300 to 400 full-time jobs.
